Big News for December

JFH has been invited to participate in the annual meeting of the Inter-Religious Council of Ethiopia this December in Addis Ababa.

Hi Everyone,

I hope you’ve all been doing well these past few months and that you continue to keep JFH and the people of Africa in your prayers. As we start heading into winter, which is normally a less busy time for JFH, it’s clear the Lord is calling us to have a much greater influence than what we’ve had in the past.

Coming up this December, we’ve received an unprecedented invitation to participate in the annual meeting of the Inter-Religious Council of Ethiopia. The IRCE is a collaboration between six different member religions across Ethiopia including Evangelicals, Ethiopian Orthodox, Muslims, Catholics, Lutherans, and Seventh Day Adventists. Their primary goal is to maintain peace, tolerance, and mutual respect between the different religious groups in Ethiopia, but above and beyond this they also seek to find ways of working together to promote justice, human dignity, democracy, social equality, and economic development. These are the same issues Justice For Humanity was formed to address through Christ –centered training, ministry, and missions programs, so participating in this event will go a long way towards solidifying our involvement in these issues in Ethiopia.

Even being invited to an event such as this is an honor very few foreign organizations ever receive. The Ethiopian government is very selective and critical of the nonprofit organizations it allows to operate within its borders, so it’s very important that we take advantage of this opportunity. Our association with the IRCE will gain us the trust and personal connections we need to help expand and grow our ministry not only in Ethiopia, but in surrounding countries as well.

The IRCE meeting will be held this December from the 17th through the 20th in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We strongly believe that this is a God-given opportunity and we will definitely be sending our co-founder and Head of Africa Missions to participate, but this is also a financial step of faith for us because we hadn’t planned for this large expense within our budget. Between airfare, lodging, and incidentals we estimate the trip will cost over $3,000, so we’re asking all of you to please pray and consider whether you can help us cover some of these expenses. Donations can be made online through our PayPal account or by sending cash or checks to Justice For Humanity.

Our invitation to participate in the IRCE event also included board members and supporters of Justice for Humanity. We are currently assessing whether we can send one of our JFH board members to attend, and if this sounds like something you’d be personally interested in attending please contact Brian Dimitroff or Dan Monson. In the future we’re also planning on inviting people to join our summer mission trips, so if this interests you please contact us.

As a final note, we want to let all of you know just how much God has been blessing us over the past few months. As many of you know, our Head of Africa Missions is attending the School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota. Throughout the course of his activities there, God has already allowed him to meet and gain favor with several leaders, professors, and politicians, including two current US Senators. It’s clear that the Lord has very big plans for Justice For Humanity, so please continue to pray for us and remember us in your monthly and annual giving.

Thank you for your support, and may God bless you.
